From The Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales, (1870-72):
An inland county; bounded, on the NW, by Northampton; on the N by Lincoln; on the E, by Norfolk and Suffolk; on the S, by Essex and Herts; and on the W, by Beds and Huntingdon.
The market towns are Cambridge, Ely, Linton, March, Thorney, Wisbeach, and parts of Newmarket and Royston.
