"Dr. Brighton"

Brighton is a city in Brighton and Hove, England. It is in the historic county of Sussex. (For more information about the ancient counties of the UK, see the historic counties page and the place types page.)
Former and merged names include:
· Brighthelmstone
In 2000, Brighton was joined with the nearby community of Hove to form the city of Brighton and Hove.

The city's development as a seaside resort began in the mid-18th century.

Received national attention for the 1984 IRA bombing of the Grand Hotel. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher had been the target; she escaped unharmed, but her room was damaged in the blast.
A hotel in Dickens' "Dombey and Son" was inspired by this community's Bedford Hotel.
Setting for Henry James' "Sir Edmund Orme"and William Makepeace Thackeray's "Vanity Fair"
