Weymouth is a town in Dorset, England. It is in the historic county also called Dorset. (For more information about the ancient counties of the UK, see the historic counties page and the place types page.)
England's first recorded cases of Black Death were recorded at Weymouth in 1348.
The town developed as a resort after George III began coming here to bathe in the sea.
The town inspired Thomas Hardy's town of Budmouth in "The Trumpet-Major."
