Bangor is a town in County Down, Northern Ireland. The community is on Belfast Lough.
One theory claims Bangor takes its name from the Welsh translation signifying "a circular hut." Another theory is that Bangor means “white choir.”

The town developed around Bangor Abbey, founded here in the 6th century.
