Bowmore is in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It is in the historic county of Argyllshire. (For more information about the ancient counties of the UK, see the historic counties page and the place types page.) The community is on Loch Indaal, on the island of Islay.
Bowmore is know for Kilarrow Parish Church, which is circular. Local lore says the 18th-century structure was designed to prevent the devil from hiding in the corners.
